Bottled Waterborne Epoxy Colored Sand

Product Definition

Bottled Waterborne Epoxy Colored Sand is a two-component joint filler engineered for premium architectural finishes. Built on a waterborne epoxy resin base with natural quartz aggregate (Mohs hardness 7-8) and an eco-friendly amine hardener, it eliminates the solvent emissions, mold issues, and aesthetic limitations of traditional cement and polyurethane grouts.

Core Technical Specifications

Property Value Standard / Certification
VOC content <30 g/L French A+ Certified
Abrasion resistance Class M1 (loss <250 mm³) EN 13888
Aggregate particle size 0.1 – 1.2 mm (selectable) Matte stone finish (Gloss <10 GU)
QUV weathering 1000 h, ΔE <2.0 UV stable for outdoor use
Mix ratio 10:1 (resin : hardener, by weight) ±0.5% tolerance at ΔT ±5°C
Third-Party Certifications:

  • French A+ (VOC <30 g/L) — Issued under French VOC regulation (arrêté du 19 avril 2011 relatif à l’étiquetage des produits de construction). Highest grade: ≤ 30 g/L TVOC after 28 days.
  • EN 13888 Class M1 (abrasion <250 mm³) — European standard for tile grouts; Class M1 is the highest abrasion-resistance category.

QUV 1000 h ΔE <2.0 is a manufacturer-declared value (internal lab). Third-party QUV report available on request.

Substrate Preparation Requirements

  • Joint width: 1 – 5 mm
  • Joint depth: ≥ 3 mm
  • Substrate moisture content: ≤ 8% (verified by infrared moisture meter)
  • Surface must be dust-free (vacuumed) and oil-free (acetone wipe)

Standard Application Procedure

  1. Mix — Stir 3 minutes at 800 rpm → rest → secondary stir for 1 minute (electric mixer required).
  2. Apply — Press into joint at 45° angle using 60° hardness rubber float; repeat 2-3 strokes for full compaction.
  3. Clean — Before surface dry (~40 min @ 25°C), wipe surface with damp sponge in circular motion.
  4. Cure — Full cure 72 hours @ 25°C / 60% RH. Avoid water contact during cure.

Best Practice & Troubleshooting

  • Color consistency: Use same production batch within a single area; avoid direct sunlight on uncured zones.
  • Cold-weather application: Pre-warm material to 15-25°C when ambient < 10°C.
  • Residential application: Choose mold-resistant variant (kitchens, bathrooms) or stain-resistant variant (living rooms).
  • Commercial application: Prioritize abrasion + crack resistance variants (malls, hospitals).

Three Defining Advantages

Mold-Proof & Waterproof Eco-Friendly Formula Convenient Application
Sealed joint structure prevents biological growth French A+ certified, <30 g/L VOC Standard tools, no specialized equipment

Target Applications

  • Premium residential — bathrooms, kitchens, foyers (matte stone finish)
  • Hospitality — hotel lobbies, spa floors (1000h UV stable)
  • Healthcare — hospitals, clinics (mold-proof, easy-clean)
  • Commercial — malls, showrooms (M1 abrasion class)
