When Is Seismic Rating Required in UAE?
Dubai Building Code requires seismic detailing for: residential buildings above 3 storeys, all commercial buildings, and connections in lateral force-resisting systems. Pull-out test data consistently shows: a properly cleaned hole at 10× diameter outperforms a poorly cleaned hole at 12× diameter. Three compressed-air blows + wire brush + three more blows is the minimum for iron-cement and mandatory for epoxy anchors. Skipping this step invalidates the embedment calculation.
