Choosing a microcement colour for a Dubai interior is not the same decision as choosing it for a London or Paris project. The light quality in Dubai—intense, warm, and highly directional for most of the year—reads colours differently than northern European diffused light. Colours that look neutral in a showroom can read warm or cold depending on which direction your bathroom faces and what time of day your client uses it most.

How Dubai Light Affects Microcement Colour
Dubai receives strong sunlight from the south and south-east for most of the year. In rooms with south-facing windows, direct sunlight at 10:00–14:00 is very intense (3,000–6,000 lux at window). This washes out light neutrals (Pure White, Light Beige, Pearl Grey) and can make them appear flat or clinical. North-facing rooms with indirect light show microcement colours much closer to showroom samples.
UAE light rules:
- Warm tones (Sand, Terracotta, Warm Taupe) read consistently across lighting conditions—safe for bathrooms without fixed orientation
- Cool greys (Slate, Ash, Industrial) look excellent in direct-light spaces; can feel cold in north-facing rooms without warm accent lighting
- White and near-white shades require sample testing on actual substrate in the specific room—do not approve from showroom sample only
